HOW TO ENROLL IN OUR PROGRAMS

What Sets SACC Apart?

SACC embodies compassion, community, and hope as they meet needs within the immigrant community. Their relational approach not only meets practical needs—through education and services—but also creates a sense of belonging that honors the dignity of every immigrant family.

We are more than a language center. We are a community, built from the belief that no one should have to build a new life alone. Here, you’ll find free English classes, citizenship test preparation, computer classes, community support groups, children’s programs, and—most of all—a place where neighbors become friends and form meaningful connections.

“When I’m at the SACC, I feel like I’m with my family.”

Asma had always put her family first—working hard at home to ensure her children could succeed in school and pursue their dreams. As the last member of her family who had yet to become a U.S. citizen, she was determined to reach that milestone too. She knew she needed to strengthen her English and prepare for the citizenship exam, but she also knew she couldn’t do it alone. That’s when she found the South Asian Community Center. At SACC, Asma attended the English and citizenship classes, studying diligently, often balancing her learning with her responsibilities at home.

  • Along the way, she formed meaningful friendships with her classmates and her teachers—creating a sense of belonging that went beyond the classroom. After months of dedication, Asma passed her citizenship exam. Reflecting on her journey, she shared: “When I’m at the SACC, I feel like I’m with my family.” Her story captures the heart of the SACC: a place where you're not just working toward your goals, but doing it with a community that genuinely loves and cares for you. - Asma

Priya, a longtime student at the SACC, came to us over four years ago with three clear goals: learn English, become a U.S. citizen, and find a job in food service. She showed up to class faithfully, determined to improve. Over time, her English skills grew stronger—and so did her confidence. With continued support and preparation, she proudly passed her citizenship exam. To work toward her final goal, she enrolled in the Cornell University nutrition education course we hosted, earning a certificate that added to her qualifications.

  • She also attended our resume writing workshop where she developed a professional resume and practiced interview skills. Soon after, with determination and support, Priya landed a job in a school cafeteria - a meaningful step toward the life she hoped for. She is so grateful to the SACC for helping her achieve her goals.- Priya
